- J has opened and toured extensively with Duff McKagan, the bass player of Guns 'n' Roses. They are very good friends.
- Franz Stahl, former guitar player of the Foo Fighters, was a session guitarist for J during the release of "Red Room" and performed as J's guitarist at J's Nippon Budokan show.
- At one point in time, J was driving his mustang (the original one that came out in the 60s) in Japan. The engine overheated and began to smoke. The smoke was filling his car. He put his shades on, rolled down the window, lit a cigarette and began smoking, and continually rubbed the windshield clean from the inside of his car and pretended that everything was cool until he got to his destination while people were giving him strange looks as like they were saying "Is he going to be alright?"
- J, out of all the other members has the most successful solo act.
- J got his canines (two upper teeth, fangs) fixed prior to LUNA SEA's God Bless You concert.
- J's favorite phrase is "Wake Up, Motherfucker" and can be seen on some of his various basses. Primarily the front of his red upside-down Jaguar copy and the back of the neck on his white SG copy.
- J joined "Zilch" to help the bands studio work on their 2001 album "Skyjin" along with other famous western musicians such as Duff Mackagen.
- Inoran and J formed a band with hide in 1993 called "MxAxSxS" - they recorded one song before the other Luna Sea members protested and issued an ultimatum.
- J's musical audience during his live shows is a rare 50/50 mix of men and women.
- J took over the job as bass player from Sugizo. Sugizo intended to play bass for the band at first but since J was already bass player, Sugizo took the role of lead guitar.

-Sugizo, Shinya, J and Inoran came from the same high school in Kanagawa,but J and Inoran didn't know Sugizo and Shinya at that time.They said the high school was too big and beside Sugizo and Shinya were seniors (one year grade older) to J and Inoran.

- J once burnt his house down when he's was at school (elementary school) because he didn't want his teacher come to his home.
